Happy Solstice! (Winter in the Northern Hemisphere & Summer in the Southern)
Here in the Northern Hemisphere it feels like a bit of a paradox. Today marks the day of the longest night and start of Winter, which is a time of hibernation. Yet this time of the year there can be so much extra hustle and bustle. It can be challenging to reconcile this natural rhythm of rest with the activities of the holidays. I personally like to take some time during Winter Solstice to reflect. I like to cozy up under my favorite blanket with a good cup of tea and put pen to paper. One of my favorite things to journal is what I would like to let go of and what I would like to welcome in. This time of reflection and vision building continues from Solstice until New Year's Eve and is my sacred solitary time in the midst of connecting with family and friends throughout the holidays. Some questions I ponder: What was supportive to me this year, what was not? What deserves acknowledgement and celebration this year? What would I like to let go of and leave behind in 2017? What would I like to welcome in or experience more of in the year to come? This year I would like to let go of self-doubt and unnecessary structure and I would like to welcome in more self-confidence, ease and joy. How do you like to celebrate Winter Solstice and find balance this time of the year? In a few words, what would you like to let go of and welcome in?
