Happy March 1! We are well into the new year! The start of a fresh month makes the perfect time to check in with yourself. Are you still on track with your resolutions/intentions for 2019?
Self-reflection questions: What are my triggers/pulls me off course? What supports me in getting back on track? What steps/shifts are there to celebrate? Make note of adjustments to make and celebrate, celebrate, celebrate the healthy choices you've made!!! But make sure your celebration isn't self-sabotaging...keep reading... For February, I'm celebrating more nights of being in bed on time than staying up late including 2 consecutive weeks of honoring my bedtime! The natural reward has been higher quality sleep and all of the accompanying benefits. To celebrate these healthy choices, I spent some time at the botanical gardens today. Felt so good to warm my bones, surround myself with green nature and soak up the sounds of birds and a waterfall. It was also the perfect place to do my self-reflection. In the past, I would often "treat" myself to some Netflix time as a reward for getting to bed by midnight. As you can image this was a slippery slope and it was all too easy to over-indulge. This year I'm celebrating in an entirely new way, such as my trip to the gardens today :) Is your reward setting you up to slide back into old habits? Another one I often hear is rewarding healthy food choices with junk food. These rewards are like shooting yourself in the foot. This year, no more self-sabotaging celebrations for me.
