I spent large portions of today decluttering, vacuuming, dusting and doing laundry. As I've mentioned in the past the waning lunar phase, which we are in now, is a supportive time to clean and bring projects to completion before the next new moon (on Wed, Jan 13). I also find it supportive to clean and organize because my external world is a reflection of my internal world, and vice versa. Often times when I am feeling mentally scattered or overwhelmed I will organize something...it helps bring me (and my life) back into order and balance. Given the chaos, disorder and lack of harmony we have been witnessing, you may find it supportive to bring your home/sanctuary into order.
After I was done cleaning, I took an exfoliating shower to "brush off the old". Then I took some time to rest and enjoy my freshly clean and organized home. In the last few days I've also noticed my craving for comfort foods...not surprising at all. Tonight my family and I enjoyed a super foods dinner of mixed greens, pomegranate seeds and toasted walnuts with a light vinegar dressing. My husband and kiddo both commented that the lightly toasted walnuts smelled and tasted a bit like popcorn. So if you are looking for a healthy comfort food snack you might want to try toasted walnuts...they also can boost mood and help with insomnia

And ladies, okra can help support a healthy ovulation phase. Eating for a smoother cycle...yes please! Skillet-Roasted Okra & Shrimp* Hands-on/Total Time: 30 min. Yield: 4-6 servings Ingredients:
Saute okra in 1 Tbsp. hot olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat 4 to 5 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer okra to a large bowl. Add tomatoes and 1 Tbsp. oil to skillet; saute 3 minutes or until skins begin to burst. Transfer tomatoes to bowl with okra. Add shrimp and remaining 1 Tbsp. oil to skillet; sprinkle shrimp with red pepper. Saute 2 to 3 minutes or just until shrimp turn pink. Add garlic; saute 30 seconds. Stir in okra mixture, and sauté 1 to 2 minutes or until hot. Stir in salt, pepper, and parsley. FYI: okra can get a bit slimy but my 8 1/2 yr old thought that was really fun and gave this meal two thumbs up. This could be served over rice but we just ate as is. Enjoy! Today not only marks the beginning of a brand new month but also the half-way point between Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere). Today is also known as Imbolc or Brigids Day. Traditional foods for the Imbolc celebration include those made with seeds, (to symbolize growth), raisins (a fruit of the Sun God), pork, poultry, or lamb, with sides of potatoes, cabbage, onions, and garlic. (See photo for other ideas on how to celebrate Imbolc.) This afternoon I unexpectedly found myself home alone and so decide to do a sacred salt soak/sweat. I like to do these soaks around the new and full moon, solstices, equinoxes and days like today to connect with the energy of purification and rhythms of nature. Not only is today the beginning of a brand, spankin new month, it is Nov 1! As many of you know I love repeating numbers. The number 1 is all about new beginnings, fresh start. Given that it is repeated today (11/1) the manifestation energy is amplified! How are you going to harness today's energy?
Since we are also in Mercury Retrograde I see it as a time of re-fresh and re-evaluate. I'm going to take some time to reflect back on the intentions I set at the beginning of the year. Which of those intentions still feel in alignment right now? Which ones can I lovingly release? What course corrections do I want to make to manifest the intentions that are still in alignment? There a 2 months left in the year, I plan to use that time to build strong foundations and healthier habits. Lately I've gotten off track with honoring my bedtime.
